I’m Hunter, and this is Hunter Software Consulting. I’m an engineering leader with 12+ years in high-growth B2B SaaS and four successful exits — Silverpop, SalesLoft, Calendly, and Sendoso. I’ve built and led teams from 1 to hundreds, and scaled products from zero to tens of millions in ARR. I also advise founders through Atlanta Tech Village and ATDC.
After all that, I keep seeing the same thing. The team is busy. Nobody is lazy. And almost none of the work turns into revenue.
Pull requests languish. QA time balloons. Code that could ship in hours goes out in months. “Quick” changes trigger weeks of rework. Timelines grow and uncertainty explodes. But the expensive part isn’t any of that — it’s that nobody is looking at which work makes money. Most teams don’t have a talent problem. They have a direction problem.
Here’s the clearest example I have. I was the engineer asked to change the colors on a marketing email. The team spent months on it (Shocking but true - I’m always happy to get into the details). While that was happening, I found a four-year-old bug quietly throttling the company’s revenue. The fix took minutes. Getting permission took months. When it shipped, it took ARR from $100M to $125M.
I work with non-technical founders and CEOs of B2B SaaS companies who are spending seven figures a year on engineering, have no technical leadership in the building, and have reached the point where runway is the conversation. My job is to be your objective operator — someone who supplies direction from leadership to release, surfaces the real constraints, and leaves you with a team that ships what customers pay for.
I speak fluent engineering and fluent boardroom. That translation gap is a disease, and being fluent in both directions is the cure. If I can explain something to a computer, I can explain it to a human.
My competition isn’t other fractionals. It’s inaction — the founder who tucks their head in and hopes it gets better on its own. It doesn’t.
